Peace, Brother Roger
I was utterly shocked to hear the sad news that Brother Roger, the 90 year old founder of the community at Taize had been brutally murdered during evening prayer.
One of those sad but often true sayings is that no good deed goes unpunished.
A man of holiness and peace being taken by the insanity and violence that he lived his life to heal in the world. His funeral is Tuesday, August 23.
My prayers for that community of faith. My prayers for all of us who have found in the worship music of Taize solace, healing and hope. My prayers for the world to be healed of the violence that never and no where makes any sense.
Thank you Brother Roger for your faithful service. God, this child of yours is fully in your presence, fully in your joy.
