Playing Catch-up
I have been one of those people who have been caught in the Cycle of
Colds. Someone from Church was telling me about their Dr. who has seen
many people this year who will catch one cold for 5-6 days, then
recover for a week or so and then catch the next version of the cold
bug for a few days, then recover for a week or two and then catch the
next version. This will cycle through 3-5 variations of cold bugs. So
one isn’t really sick all the time, but is sick too often.
Last week, I was out for the whole week. I was able to recover enough
to lead worship this weekend and now I am back in the office, but I am
still treating symptoms (how many trees make a box of tissue? I hope
not too many, I seem to have gone through a forest of tissue
boxes). But with Holy Week now upon us and having missed a full week
of work, I really have to push myself a little bit.
Now I have to come from behind for the week. A most special week that
I want to be meaningful to everybody who comes to worship. And of
course, there is the accumulation of decisions to be made, plans to be
revised, tasks to get back to speed with.
Definitely need a lot of spiritual help this week. Can’t just phone it
in. Can’t panic either. Just sort through things and do the next thing
and keep at it.
Unfortunately, the weekly devotions is a lower priority (as it has
been for a few weeks now). I am looking forward to the day in a week
or two when I will again have the freedom of schedule and task list to
return weekly updates to a higher priority.
Until then I am still sorting through lists and papers and services
and prayers.
